Conclusion

Writing this blog has been a meaningful journey for me. Through each entry, I’ve been able to explore different parts of my life — my hobbies, my first job interview, my travel experiences, my family, and even some important social topics.

All of these experiences have not only helped me grow as a person, but also improved my ability to express myself in English. Talking about real moments from my life made learning the language more personal and enjoyable.

I’ve learned that language connects us — to opportunities, to people, and to new ways of thinking. Whether I’m on the volleyball court, with my family, preparing for an interview, or reflecting on society, English has given me a powerful tool to share my voice with the world.

And this is just the beginning

Crime and Punishment – A Necessary Discussion

Crime and Punishment – A Necessary Discussion
馃搮 Date: July 13 2025

Crime continues to be a serious problem in many societies around the world. In this post, I explore different types of crimes such as theft, drug trafficking, and cybercrime. These offenses can have long-lasting effects on communities and individuals. Criminals, or offenders, often go through a trial and receive a sentence such as prison time or fines. But we must ask: Are prisons always the best solution?

In my opinion, prisons are not always effective, especially for non-violent crimes. Some people just need help and guidance, not punishment. For example, in countries like Norway, the justice system focuses on rehabilitation instead of punishment. Offenders there often receive education, job training, and emotional support so they can rejoin society. This approach has shown positive results.

I believe we must look for better alternatives. Governments should offer community service or rehabilitation programs for certain crimes, especially when the offender is young or non-violent. Leaders have to consider solutions that not only punish, but also prevent future crimes.

As part of this activity, I wrote a letter to a local leader suggesting reforms in the justice system. I proposed more investment in education and rehabilitation instead of building more prisons.

By thinking about justice and how we treat offenders, we can build a safer and fairer society for everyone.

Critical Thinking and Media Literacy

Critical Thinking and Media Literacy
馃搮 Date: Mayo 30  2025

In this post, I reflect on how social media can strongly influence the way we think and form opinions. I realized that not everything we see online is true, and sometimes the information is biased or even false. That’s why it is important to ask questions, check reliable sources, and think critically before believing or sharing anything.

I learned key concepts like bias, which is when information is presented in a one-sided way, and misinformation, which means false or misleading content. I also practiced fact-checking and understood how different perspectives can shape how a story is told.

This experience taught me that understanding media is essential to making smart choices and being a responsible communicator.

A Trip to Medell铆n – A Cultural Experience

A Trip to Medell铆n – A Cultural Experience
馃搮 Date: abril19, 2025

This photo was taken on the airplane as I was heading to Medell铆n, Colombia. I was excited to explore a new city and connect with people from different parts of the world. During my trip, I had many opportunities to use English in real-life situations. I asked for directions when I got a bit lost, ordered food at international restaurants, and even made a few new friends by introducing myself and starting conversations in English. This experience helped me improve my language skills and gave me more confidence speaking English in public. Traveling is not just about seeing new places — it’s also about learning and growing.

My First Job Interview in English

My First Job Interview in English
馃搮 Date: Jun 7, 2025

This was a very special day for me — my first job interview in English. I prepared a lot for this moment, practicing common expressions and answers to frequently asked questions.

Some of the key expressions I learned were:

“I’m a responsible and motivated person.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity to grow with your company.”

“I have experience working in teams and solving problems under pressure.”

The interview was a mix of nerves and excitement, but I stayed calm and focused. I also practiced questions like:

“Can you tell me about yourself?”

“Why do you want to work here?”

“What are your strengths and weaknesses?”

This experience helped me develop more confidence when speaking English in professional situations. It made me realize that with practice and effort, I can achieve more than I thought.

I’m proud of myself for taking this big step forward. 馃捈

My Favorite Hobby

My Favorite Hobby: Playing soccer and Softball
馃搮 Date: July 03, 2025

Hi! My name is Jes煤s Zu帽iga and sports are a big part of my life. I love playing soccer and softball, and they have become my favorite hobbies. They help me stay active, build discipline, and share great moments with my teammates.

In the first photo, I’m with my soccer team. We usually train during the week, focusing on teamwork, technique, and staying motivated. I really enjoy the energy of each match — it's fast, intense, and exciting!

In the second photo, I'm holding a softball trophy after a great game with my team. That moment was very special to me. I learned how important effort, strategy, and trust in the team are to win together.

I also recorded a short video in English where I describe my favorite match and what I learned from it. Talking about sports in English has helped me improve my vocabulary and fluency, especially when expressing emotions and routines.

Playing sports makes me feel alive and connected.

My Family, My Pillar

My Family, My Pillar
馃搮 Date: July 3, 2025

In this post, I want to share something special about my lovely family. In the picture, you can see my father, Juan ruales , and my uncle , David ruales, who have always been a strong support in my life. They are kind, wise, and full of love.

Although my father is no longer with us and now rests in peace, he is always present in our hearts and memories.

We often spend time together celebrating special days, cooking, and sharing stories. One of our favorite routines is our Sunday gatherings, where we eat together, talk, and enjoy music.

I’ve also recorded a short audio where I talk about our Sunday routine in English. This activity has helped me improve my speaking skills and learn vocabulary about daily life.

Family means everything to me. ❤️
